The predicted rain and a sandstorm caused Roman Breckner, organizer of the Sparkasse Stadtlauf Mattighofen, to have a stomach ache beforehand, but in the end everything was fine – despite the overturned inlet channel (“fortunately that happened during the break”) and mixed-up start numbers. Whoops, which the organizer has experienced regularly in the past 20 years. This year’s winner, on the other hand, was new for Roman Breckner.

Although well known in the Innviertel and beyond, Jürgen Aigner from the LAG Genböck Haus Ried started in Mattighofen for the first time this year. After an operation, the Prameter is fighting back to his old strength and proved this in Mattighofen. In 33:00.42 minutes he stayed over 9870 meters due to the wind, although he beat the course record set by Alex Knoblechner in 2019, but this time he relegated the record holder to second place. For TSV Mattighofen, Gerold Grubmüller completed the podium in third place (results below).

In contrast to the men, Tina Fischl (38:40.95 minutes, WSV Otterskirchen), an “old acquaintance”, took the top step of the women’s podium. With a respectful gap of almost two minutes, Dominique Hari (Trumer Triteam) and Ingrid Materna (SVG Ruhstorf) took second and third place. Among other things, the winners were rewarded with insect hotels specially built by Lebenshilfe Mattighofen. “These prizes have been extremely well received. We have even been asked whether the matching nesting boxes will be available next year. We like this idea,” says Breckner.

In total, more than 300 participants started in Mattighofen. A “lot” that makes Roman Breckner happy. However, he would have expected more starters at the company or hobby run. “Apart from that, I’m completely satisfied. Above all, the award ceremony for the children, which we were allowed to hold in the KTM Motohall this year, was a real highlight. All hell broke loose there. Also because KTM itself organized an event with more than 300 motocross riders. machines. And right in the middle were our little winners with their trophies,” says the organizer, who hopes that this extraordinary award ceremony will not just be a flash in the pan.

The ATSV Mattighofen was also well represented, for which a total of 38 children started. “And it’s often said that footballers can’t walk. ATSV Mattighofen showed on Saturday that that’s not the case,” emphasizes Breckner. Another example of the versatility of the young athletes is Breckner’s grandson Philipp. He was still playing tennis in the morning, won the male U14 age group in the afternoon and then started in the main race. There, the only 13-year-old finished 57th in 46:38.10 minutes. “He’s so ambitious that you almost have to slow him down. But as a grandfather, it’s nice to see that the younger generation is so versatile and motivated,” rejoices Breckner.
