The 44-year-old cyclist was likely to have been lying there for three and a half hours before a mailman found him and called the ambulance, police said.
The driver of the car had rear-ended the cyclist, who was wearing a yellow warning vest. The 44-year-old was then thrown from his two-wheeler, flew 16 meters through the air, hit the asphalt and then fell down an embankment. The accident driver pulled him back up the embankment and put him under the lantern.
Police believe the accident happened around 1 a.m. The seriously injured man was not discovered until around 4:30 a.m. and the rescue services were called. After the first aid, the man was taken to the Salzkammergut Klinikum Vöcklabruck. The police are asking for information about the accident to the Vorchdorf Police Inspectorate (Tel.: 059133/4111).
