The 69-year-old was helping his 75-year-old neighbor in a wooded area on Friday morning with the so-called “wood stripping” when the accident occurred, the exact course of which is still under investigation.
It is known that the senior man attached a 25 meter long tree trunk to the steel chain of the cable winch in a ten meter deep ditch. He gave his neighbor the okay to operate the winch on the tractor by shouting loudly from downstairs.

The woman, who had no visual contact with her helper because of the deep ditch, complied with the call. Because she then heard nothing more from her neighbor, after about 30 seconds she went to the embankment and looked down. She saw the man lying motionless next to the tree trunk and immediately set the rescue chain in motion.
The seriously injured man was resuscitated, rescued with a rescue sheet and then flown to the Kepler University Hospital in a rescue helicopter. In addition to rescue and emergency doctor, the Hintersberg, Mistlberg and Tragwein fire brigades were also deployed.
