1.44 per thousand: car driver caused an accident with a company car and wanted to flee

A 42-year-old car driver from the Eferding district lost control of his company car on Saturday at around 2.15 a.m. on Plassstrasse in Ansfelden, drove straight ahead in a curve and landed in a meadow, where he struck a tree, skidded and slid back onto the street. The car eventually came to a standstill on the roadway.

An 18-year-old from the Linz-Land district who happened to be passing the scene of the accident called the police because the 42-year-old tried to drive away. The officials carried out an alcohol test on the uninjured accident driver, which resulted in a blood alcohol content of 1.44. The Eferdinger’s driver’s license and vehicle keys were provisionally taken away. The company vehicle was totaled.
