Universities are gradually relaxing mask rules

The Covid-19 Higher Education Act leaves it up to the individual universities to determine the corona rules. Accordingly, they are currently designed differently in terms of masks.

At the University of Salzburg, masks will no longer be compulsory on Monday (May 9th) – but wearing an FFP2 mask is still recommended. The technical universities in Graz and Vienna, the University of Graz, the University of Economics and Business, the University of Klagenfurt, the Montanuni Leoben, the University of Music in Vienna, the Danube University Krems and, in the case of courses, the University of Veterinary Medicine have also already lifted or suspended them .

On the other hand, masks must still be worn in the lecture hall and during examinations at the University of Vienna, the University of Innsbruck, the University and Art University Linz, the Mozarteum and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (Boku). At the Academy of Fine Arts, the mask is still mandatory if a distance of two meters cannot be maintained, at the Kunstuni Graz on all traffic areas and if a person in the room requests it.

A mask must also continue to be worn during courses at the medical universities in Innsbruck and Vienna. At the Medical University of Graz, it depends on the area in which the course takes place: In those areas in which patient contact can take place, the mask is still mandatory, in the non-clinical area there is an urgent recommendation to do so.
