600,000 fair visitors were counted in the past nine days. “It shows how much the Linzer Urfahranermarkt has been missed,” said those responsible for the city of Linz on Sunday in a broadcast. “It was a terrific comeback as a folk festival that exceeded our expectations. After the forced two-year break, this year was emotionally the best Urfahraner market of all time anyway,” says the market officer, City Councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer. For comparison: At the autumn market 2019 – the last one Urfahrmarkt before the start of the corona pandemic – 450,000 visitors came to the left bank of the Danube.
On the opening weekend alone, almost 190,000 guests were counted this time. The highlight of the first evening was the big fireworks display. Another crowd puller was Wednesday as a family day with reduced prices, which this year as a school-free Floriani day was particularly popular with children and young people. The sound of the concert attracted a large number of new audiences to the marquee on Wednesday, where tr&b, Cook And The Gang and the Hot Pants Road Club fueled the mood and the willingness to donate. The Ukraine charity concert organized by Lions Club Linz Primavera and partners raised a total of 11,000 euros. With coconut kisses and free drinks, the market businesses gave all mothers a gift on Mother’s Day.
