Priority action: Police caught six people wanted by the court

One man was traveling with a large number of high-priced new laptops, tablets and cellphones, and another person was carrying medical and toiletries stolen from a hospital, police said.

The financial police found several violations of the ASVG and the Aliens Employment Act. A large quantity of a liquid subject to the Tobacco Act was seized by the customs investigators in accordance with the tax regulations. One person was reported on suspicion of smuggling.

According to the provisions of the Aliens Act, 33 people were found to be staying illegally, ten of whom were arrested. The other persons were reported and provisional security deposits or penal orders were collected from them.

120 emergency services involved

Three drivers were driving their cars under the influence of alcohol, four people were driving their cars under the influence of drugs. Another three vehicle drivers did not have the required driving license. The license plates were removed from ten vehicles because there was no valid registration for the respective vehicles. A total of 64 reports and 85 penalties were issued by means of an organ mandate in accordance with the provisions of traffic law. A security deposit was also collected on the spot from 14 foreign drivers to secure the respective administrative penal proceedings.

During the focus action, the motorway in the direction of Wels was completely closed and all traffic was diverted to the Kematen checkpoint. At the same time, upstream checks were carried out at the Meggenhofen and Haag am Hausruck motorway exits and at the Aistersheim rest area. A total of around 120 emergency services from various police units, representatives of the financial police, customs investigators and the BFA were on duty.
