According to the police report, the woman was sitting in a minibus with eight other harvest workers. The vehicle collided with a car at an intersection and overturned. The 42-year-old woman fell out of the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries. Several other people involved in the accident were injured and taken to nearby hospitals, police said yesterday.
The minibus was on its way on Saturday evening shortly after 5 p.m. on the Herrnholzer Gemeindestraße from Kronberg towards Simbach. Meanwhile, a 52-year-old driver drove his car on the Leppersdorfer Gemeindestraße coming from Steinholz in the direction of Leppersdorf. According to the police, the man who approached the intersection with his vehicle noticed the minibus and noticed that it made no attempt to stop at the intersection. Despite an emergency stop, he crashed sideways into the bus.
