The 47-year-old fell after being hit on the head and sustained serious injuries in the area of the head, eye and leg, said the Carinthia State Police Directorate. The unknown perpetrator fled, a search was initially unsuccessful.
The incident happened around 4:30 p.m., shortly after the end of Austria Klagenfurt’s Bundesliga game against Sturm Graz. The perpetrator attacked the 47-year-old in the storm fan sector (north-east sector) by hitting his head with great force. A witness observed the incident and informed the police officers in the stadium, who alerted the rescue services. The victim was brought by the rescue to the accident hospital in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee.
The perpetrator had neck-length dark hair and was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit with yellow and orange stripes and black sneakers with white sole edges.
