Witness saved accident driver from drowning

A 33-year-old from the Linz-Land district showed civil courage on Monday afternoon – and thus probably saved the life of a 45-year-old from the Braunau district. The driver had observed an accident on the B147 around 3:40 p.m. and immediately rushed to the scene of the accident – not a minute too late, as it turned out.

Because the woman who lost control of her car near the village of Höfen, grazed a minibus in oncoming traffic, drove onto the guardrail and left the roadway was in dire need: her car had rolled over and was on the roof lying in the so-called Schwemmbach came to a standstill. The young man pulled the woman out of the car, probably saving her from drowning. The 45-year-old was taken care of by paramedics and then taken to the hospital in Braunau with unspecified injuries. The Schalchen and Uttendorf fire brigades came to the rescue of the accident vehicle. The B147 was totally blocked for about an hour and a half, the police said on Monday evening.
