Some cyclists and walkers near the mouth of the Mühlbach and Jauckerbach could hardly believe their eyes when they saw an unusual four-legged fellow on Tuesday morning: A Vietnamese pot-bellied pig made the bike path in the south of Linz unsafe on Tuesday morning. The bristle animal had obviously decided to go for a walk in the Kleinmünchen district.

Two officers from the Upper Austrian police arrived and held the sow in check until animal rescue arrived. “The pig lady was digging peacefully in the ground next to the bike path when we arrived,” reported the animal rescuers, who came in threes. In teamwork, the animal was secured using a leash and arresting rod and loaded into a large transport box.
Here the pig was found:
The animal rescue ICARA brought the found pig to the animal paradise in Schabenreith, where it found a new home for the time being and was christened “Guiness”. “The pig is in good health. As soon as she arrived, she was very enthusiastic about the amount of straw in our barn,” reports animal shelter manager Harald Hofner.

Where the pig lady was originally housed and who owns it is a mystery. It is also not possible to say whether she ran away or was abandoned. The police therefore called for a “manhunt”: “Who was lucky and is missing it now? We are looking for Frauli or Herrli von Babe,” says a Facebook post.
