With crowdfunding, in German swarm financing, the basic idea is that a large number of sponsors implement a project together. In return, the financiers usually receive material goods and bonuses. This week, the Wels-based energy supplier eww launched its own crowdfunding platform just for catfish.
On its website, the company offers clubs, organizations, initiatives, educational institutions and private individuals the opportunity to present their ideas and projects and to finance them with the support of many people. The eww group provides a funding pot of 10,000 euros each year. “For every donation of 10 euros or more, we add an additional 20 euros, so that each submitter collects up to 1,000 euros from us for their idea,” explains eww board member Florian Niedersüß. Each supporter also receives a bonus for their donation, which is provided either by the supported project or by eww.
The prerequisite for a project on the eww Crowd is that it is implemented in Wels and brings added sporting, cultural or social value to the region. As is usual with crowdfunding, the money collected from the eww crowd is only paid out if the goal is reached. There is also a trust account where the donations are parked.
eww works with a technology partner on the platform. Project coaches are provided to provide advice and support.
The first three projects are already online: The UTC Wels would like to have a lawn mower robot financed. The Wels Reading Festival is looking for support for the event in the Wels Burggarten on July 23rd. And the Welser Lerntafel needs new laptops to improve the supervision of their students.
