The biggest chunk of it is a salary increase for employees in the sector, which will probably be paid out as a monthly bonus this year and next. Reserved for this are 520 million. This should roughly correspond to an additional monthly salary.
During training in the nursing profession, you should receive a subsidy of 600 euros per month. Newcomers and returnees receive a nursing grant of at least 1,400 euros per month. Nursing teaching is introduced as a pilot project. Another improvement for employees is that the so-called “discharge week” is generally granted from the 43rd birthday.
Bonus for relatives
Furthermore, a relatives’ bonus of 1,500 euros per year will be created for those family members who provide most of the care at home and are self-insured or continue to be insured. The legal entitlement to long-term care leave will be extended from one to three months, although a corresponding collective agreement or company agreement must be in place. The increased family allowance is no longer offset against the care allowance.
The competencies of nursing and nursing assistants are expanded. In the future, for example, they will be allowed to connect infusions and give injections.
Social Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) said at the press conference to present the package that he wanted to ensure that the “wonderful profession” of nursing could take place under good conditions. Financial improvements are also planned for 24-hour care, but these still have to be finalized by the social partners.
