Just last week, the Eisbären Berlin were able to crown themselves German champions in the DEL final series against Red Bull Munich with a 5-0 win away from home, but they are already looking towards the new season. Because the Berliners will be holding a training camp in the Salzkammergut, the decision to hold a showdown with the Black Wings is obvious. This will take place on August 19th in the Linz Eisarena.
For the team of Philipp Lukas and Co, there was a real endurance test after just a few weeks: the champion squad of Berlin included not only Mathias Niederberger, Marcel Noebels, Leo Pföderl and Frank Hördler, but also two with Zach Boychuk and Frans Nielsen NHL veterans and two drafted boys, Johan Södergran and Dominik Bokk. So there is a lot of quality and above all a lot of speed for the Black Wings.
In addition to the Eisbären Berlin, the people of Linz will also go on the ice against other clubs from the DEL in the pre-season. There have often been such, but never a duel with the reigning German champions.
