The Austrian, born in 1963, was sentenced to two years in prison in 2015 for a burglary, including 16 months conditionally, the spokesman for the Innsbruck regional court confirmed a media report.
The remains of the man, who was carrying climbing gear, were found in a tent in rough terrain by two hikers on April 21. The body was completely skeletonized. The identity of the man was finally clarified by a DNA test. He may have been there for several years, police said.
More details can no longer be determined – nor the exact cause of death. In any case, there is no evidence of third-party debt. According to the police, the Austrian had not been reported missing. He hadn’t had any contact with relatives and acquaintances for a long time.
