3.1 per mille: drunk attacked the police officers

Passers-by called the police around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday because they had seen a motionless man on Bahnhofstrasse. When the emergency services arrived, the man, a 35-year-old from the Gmunden district, was by no means motionless, but rather he behaved extremely aggressively.

He ignored requests to stop shouting and to reveal his identity. A dangerous situation arose when the man tried to stop a departing postal bus by jumping onto the road. The police just managed to stop him. Instead of thanking him, he threatened to hit an officer if he attacked him again.

At the same time he raised his right hand and walked towards the policeman. He was then arrested and injured a second police officer in the knee. The man himself also suffered minor injuries. An interrogation was not possible because of his alcohol consumption. The alcohol test in the police inspection showed 3.1 per thousand. He will be reported to the public prosecutor’s office in Wels, the police said on Thursday afternoon.
