A 52-year-old motorcyclist died Thursday afternoon during an overtaking maneuver in his home district of Linz-Land. According to the police, the man was driving his motorcycle on the Wolferner Landesstraße in the municipality of Hofkirchen im Traunkreis in the direction of Steyr and wanted to overtake a car. In doing so, he ended up on the left-hand side of the road. He lost control of his machine and was thrown into the ditch and an adjacent field.
Witnesses to the accident immediately tried to revive the 52-year-old, which the emergency doctor continued. For the biker, however, any help came too late. As the police announced on Thursday evening, he died at the scene of the accident. Video recordings show the use:
Second accident within 24 hours
It is the second fatal motorcycle accident in Upper Austria within 24 hours. As reported, a 24-year-old biker was hit by a car at a crossroads in Schwanenstadt (Vöcklabruck district) on Wednesday.
The young man received first aid from the rescue and the emergency medical team of the rescue helicopter and was then flown to the Wels Clinic. The young man succumbed to his injuries there in the afternoon.
