Of failures and relief

Of failures and relief

It was almost four hours ago that Social Affairs Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) presented the care reform in Vienna when the Social Democrats yesterday brought the topic of care to the state parliament as an urgent debate: “Resolution to the state government – care deserves more”. And rebuffed with their request.

The ÖVP, FPÖ and SPÖ rejected the urgency of the joint motion by Neos and the Greens to ban advertisements by the state of Upper Austria and its companies in media belonging to a party. The cause migrates to the constitutional committee. Public funds would be used for “self-adulation”, said Neos club chairman Felix Eypeltauer. Green club chairman Severin Mayr also called for a turning point. State politics is committed to “non-partisan public relations work,” said ÖVP club chairman Christian Dörfel. This is “clean, public and transparent” – the application for a ban on advertising is therefore obsolete, said Dörfel.

Inflation has not been as high as it is now since October 1981. “But why haven’t you presented a relief package for the population?”, the designated SP party leader Michael Lindner addressed to Governor Thomas Stelzer (VP). He referred to the state’s support programs – but that wasn’t enough for Lindner, he would “not let go”.
