“It is with deepest sadness that we announce the loss of our miracle baby early in pregnancy,” the 40-year-old singer and her 28-year-old partner Sam Asghari wrote on Instagram on Saturday.
Spears only announced her pregnancy again on April 11. Despite all attempts to lose weight, she gained weight and thought: “Oh dear … what happened to my stomach?” She wrote on Instagram at the time. She then did a pregnancy test, “and uhhhhh… I’m having a baby”.
Spears already has two sons with ex-husband Kevin Federline: 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden. Her ex-husband has custody of the two teenagers. After her miscarriage, the 40-year-old made it clear that she would not give up her desire for more offspring. She and Asghari would “keep trying to add to our beautiful family,” the Instagram post said. In light of the sad event, the couple asked that their “privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
Successful lawsuit against guardianship
Just a few months ago, the pop singer successfully sued her father Jamie Spears for almost 14 years. Asghari and Spears met while filming a music video for the song “Slumber Party” in 2016. The couple announced their engagement last year. Regarding the prospect of becoming a father, Asghari wrote on Instagram in April that he had always wanted this, “and I don’t take it lightly. This is the most important job I will ever do”.
