The mayor of Katsdorf (Perg district), Wolfgang Greil (ÖVP), fell from the e-scooter in the early hours of Sunday morning on his way home from his community’s spring festival with a blood alcohol level of 1.82. According to media reports, the mayor, who is also the managing director of the Upper Austrian Economic Association, injured his eye so badly that it underwent surgery.
“I’m terribly sorry”
Greil was reported, the alcohol limit for e-scooters is 0.8, as with bicycles, according to the police. “I’m terribly sorry for yesterday’s incident and it was a big mistake that I still stood on the scooter. I sincerely apologize to everyone I disappointed with my behavior,” Greil said in writing on Monday.
“Something like this shouldn’t happen”
“I know Wolfgang Greil as a serious and responsible politician. Something like this shouldn’t happen and it will be discussed with him accordingly,” ruled ÖVP state manager Florian Hiegelsberger.
