Thousands of Palestinians attended the funeral procession for the American-Palestinian journalist from Al Jazeera, who was shot in the head on Wednesday while covering an Israeli military operation in West Banka Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967.
The incidents erupted when police tried to disperse the crowd after the coffin containing the reporter’s remains left St. Joseph Hospital in East Jerusalem, an Israeli-occupied Palestinian sector.

During the funeral procession, the journalist’s coffin was about to fall to the ground due to the police charges against the assistants who carried the coffin on their shoulders, according to the images broadcast by local television.
The Israeli police, which opened an investigation into the actions of its agents, assures that its agents had to deal with violence from “rioters” present in the procession.
After the police intervention, the crowd followed the coffin to a church in the Old Citywhere a mass was dedicated to him before his transfer to the cemetery.
