Kennedy had already arrived on Sunday to take part in the liberation ceremony at the Mauthausen concentration camp memorial. On Monday, in addition to the inaugural visit to the Landhaus, she also completed appointments at voestalpine and at the Körnergymnasium in Linz. Kennedy was impressed by the apprenticeship training. She referred to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) recently signed by US Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh and former Economics Minister Margarete Schramböck (VP), which is intended to initiate a more intensive exchange on this.
In general, she attaches great importance to getting in touch with young people during her visits and getting to know the visions and thoughts of the younger generation. Austria and the USA are closely connected, and this should also be the case in future generations. The participation of young people in democratic processes is particularly important, said Kennedy.
