This is shown by an online survey by JKU retail experts published yesterday, Monday Christopher Teller and Ernst Gittenberger among 1100 participants.
75 percent of those surveyed want to pay more attention to promotions when shopping, 59 percent to cheaper alternatives. Shopping on the Internet also plays a role: 43 percent stated that they researched cheaper products on the Internet. A fifth want to order more online.
According to the survey, price increases are noticeable for consumers in the food retail trade, for drugstore goods and for products from the construction and do-it-yourself sector. On the other hand, the higher prices for toys, sporting goods, books and stationery are still barely reaching consumers. And: the older consumers are, the more frequently price increases in retail are perceived. Price sensitivity also increases with increasing household size.
