After completing his apprenticeship, which he completed with a master craftsman’s examination in body construction, the automotive technician set up his own business. In 2011 he founded the KITZ car workshop. The specialty of the company are body-friendly dent treatments. But Fenster was also an expert in other areas of automotive technology. In addition to building up his company, Fenster was also involved in the Dimbach Business Association, which he headed as chairman from 2014.
But it wasn’t just the representation of interests that appealed to the committed entrepreneur. The call of local politics overtook him. In November 2015 he was sworn in as Vice Mayor of Dimbach and in October 2019 he succeeded Josef Wiesinger as mayor. After the pre-election period for the Dimbach People’s Party did not go as desired, Andreas Fenster had to run for office in a runoff against his SP challenger and cousin Manfred Fenster in October last year. How he accepted this painful defeat also earned respect from his competitors. “We have always worked well together. It was important to him to put all his cards on the table when it came to community projects,” says Manfred Fenster about his predecessor.
The boom in the Dimbach Whitsun Festival, which he put a lot of effort into making into a figurehead for the community, is particularly closely linked to Manfred Fenster. Above all, the trade show and the classic car meeting were a crowd puller. “This is where his organizational talent and his entrepreneurial foresight came into their own,” says Manfred Fenster.
