Pedestrians on the Untere Donaulände near the tobacco factory will not find many opportunities to cross the busy road reasonably safely. This is due to the large construction site for the “Quadrill” high-rise. This not only affects the way the road is laid out, but also limits the possibilities for pedestrians to cross the street. That should change.
In early summer, the existing pedestrian crossing with a central island at Gruberstraße is to be additionally secured with pictograms on the roadway and lighting. Traffic officer Deputy Mayor Martin Hajart (VP) is thus promptly complying with a request from the residents.
In addition, a second measure to increase safety for pedestrians on the Untere Donaulände in the area where it crosses with the Rechts Brückenstrasse is being planned. During the holiday season, when there is less traffic, a traffic light-controlled crossing is to be erected there again. According to Hajart, the operator of the “Quadrill” project or the construction company will bear the costs for this.
