With spring, evening school students have completed the winter practice and most of the theory lessons at the Salzkammergut Agricultural Training Center (ABZ) in Altmünster. Director Barbara Mayr: “Teaching in the classes and in front of the screens in online lessons is increasingly giving way to practice. The offer is very diverse and can be individually selected according to interests.”
There are still a few special practical offers waiting until the exam at the end of June. There will also be hoof care for sheep and cattle, milking courses, animal and stable assessment courses as well as company tours, pasture, grassland and field inspections, training courses on animal transport and animal health and tractor maintenance with practical instructions for machine adjustment, says the headmistress.
In the field of nutrition, creativity and health, there is also a separate evening school for adults. It’s also about agriculture. “But the focus is not on production, but on the processing of basic agricultural products,” says director Mayr. The production of meat and sausage products, the sectors of vegetable growing, milk processing and horticulture as well as floristry, herbal and medicinal plants and health are lived and learned with experts.
