A commemorative plaque for the Seewalchner organ virtuoso Maximilian Zweimüller was unveiled in the Jakobuskirche on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
Zweimüller was born in the Attersee community in 1932 and was in demand internationally as a concert organist. He completed his studies in Linz, Vienna and Salzburg. As a choir director and organist, he also supported and stimulated the local musical scene at Lake Attersee.
Zweimüller played a key role in the conception of the new Pirchner organ in the Jakobuskirche, although he did not live to see its completion in 2013. The organist, who worked for decades as a primary school teacher and school director in Seewalchen and in Vöcklamarkt, died in 2008.
After the abandonment of his grave and the division of his library, nothing in the town reminded of the musician. Organist Günther Kiener – a student and friend of Zweimüller – and parish assistant Markus Himmelbauer – himself an organist – initiated the commemorative plaque.
