After a separate format called “Street Art Summer 2021” was developed last year due to the corona pandemic, the spectacle has its original three-day festival format again this year. “But we’re taking some of the positive feedback from last year with us,” says VP City Councilor for Culture Doris Lang-Mayerhofer, for example, alluding to new venues. “The cobblestone spectacle is a cultural trademark of the city. As part of the further development of the festival, there will be more programs in courtyards and in places with seating to pick up on the positive experiences from the previous year. In the more than 30 years of its existence, it has established itself as a one of the most important festivals in Europe.”
More than 100 artists from all over the world
Over the three days, more than 100 solo artists and companies from all over the world will transform downtown Linz into one big stage. The program includes comedy and clowning, acrobatics, juggling, fire and tightrope artistry, music and dance, as well as figure and object theatre. In addition, special features such as a revue show in the circus tent or the musical Nightline in downtown pubs complement the numerous street performances that take place every hour at around 40 venues. The concrete program will be presented at the beginning of July.
