With the transformation towards e-mobility, the requirements for car workshops, car dealers and car importers are changing. The focus of the work is no longer changing the oil or tightening the toothed belt, but rather checking the high-voltage battery, for example. However, this requires highly qualified personnel.
training offer
A new start-up founded in April is responsible for training the prospective specialists: Saubermacher Battery Services GmbH. Behind it are three Austrian companies: Denzel, Porsche Austria and “Die Saubermacher”.
The three companies join forces in the joint venture, which is managed by Bernhard Stark, CFO at Denzel, and Thomas Haid, the head of the “Saubermacher” division. The start-up offers dealers, workshops and importers a subscription that includes a number of services. The offer ranges from the organization of professional collection, the disposal of damaged and undamaged electric car batteries and the provision of special equipment to training and specific consulting services. A 24/7 emergency assistance was also designed. The aim is a sustainable overall solution for the e-car industry in Austria and Europe, according to a joint press conference on Thursday.
A quarantine container was also developed for damaged e-cars. If necessary, this can be made available throughout Austria within a few hours, so that the car workshops would save themselves investments in their own construction measures. In the containers, sensors detect a rise in temperature at an early stage and protect employees from possible damage in the event of a battery fire.
200 tons of old batteries
A total of 200 tons of used lithium-ion batteries accumulate in Austria every year. Tendency: strongly increasing. “Die Saubermacher” take care of the professional disposal. Meanwhile, 95 percent of the raw materials used can be separated and recycled. This quota exceeds the EU battery regulation.
Together with the Montanuniversität Leoben and TÜV Süd, the general conditions for certification as a certified e-vehicle company are currently being developed.
