There were 47,014 active cases in the country, compared to 59,855 a week ago. The positive rate of the performed PCR tests was 3.5 percent. This value is above the average of the past week (an average of 1.9 percent of the PCR tests positive). There have been ten deaths related to Covid-19 since yesterday.

In the past seven days, 40 deaths have been registered, and the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 18,343 lives in Austria since it broke out. There are currently 647 people in the hospital, 160 fewer than were reported a week ago. 54 people are being cared for in intensive care units. That number has dropped by eight patients in a week.

Highest values ​​in eastern Austria

The seven-day incidence was 248.6 cases per 100,000 population, down from 347.8 in the previous week. The highest values ​​can be found in a comparison of the federal states in eastern Austria, Vienna has 337.8 cases per 100,000 followed by Lower Austria, Burgenland and Salzburg (284.8, 250 and 224.3). They are followed by Vorarlberg (215.9), Upper Austria (204.6), Carinthia (204.1), Styria (192.3) and Tyrol (188.8).

5,070 vaccinations were carried out on Friday. According to the data from the e-vaccination pass, a total of 5,977,257 people and thus 66.6 percent of Austrians still have valid vaccination protection, four weeks ago it was 68.4 percent.
