A 37-year-old from the Innviertel region had turned too quickly from the B151 to the B152 with his tractor-trailer combination, causing the trailer in which the man was transporting 16 calves to tip over and come to rest on the side. Eight calves were thrown from the transporter and fled in terror.
The forces of the fire brigades Unterach and Au-See moved in. They secured the accident site in the municipality of Unterach am Attersee and, together with volunteers, caught the animals again.
The operation was over after a good two and a half hours. The main road had to be completely closed for this time. Nobody was injured, and the calves are also likely to have survived the accident largely unscathed, according to the Au-See fire brigade.
