Two men were in each plane. All four escaped unharmed and terrified. The reported district fire brigade commander Wolfgang Mayr of the APA. The police confirmed the incident when asked. How the collision came about is currently the subject of the investigation.
The two planes are said to have started in Altötting in Bavaria. According to initial reports, a father and his son were in one. One of the light aircraft got stuck in a treetop, another crashed about 500 meters away. “The fact that both planes were equipped with an emergency parachute prevented worse from happening,” Mayr told APA. On this screen, the devices sailed to the ground. 50 emergency services from the surrounding fire departments went to the scene of the accident.
“The emergency parachute caused a lot of false reports in the first phase,” said Commander Michael Brunthaler of the Reichraming volunteer fire brigade, describing the confusing situation. Some eyewitnesses said a parachutist collided with an airplane. Others reported to the rescuers that the pilots had saved themselves from the falling wreckage by jumping with their parachute.
The fire brigade was on site quickly
The crash site at the foot of the so-called Fahrenberg was very inaccessible to the emergency services. Locating the wrecks was anything but easy in the densely overgrown terrain, Brunthaler described the initial situation. A hunter who was an eyewitness was able to provide approximate information. “We were then quickly on site,” said the fire chief.
The cleanup continued until late Sunday afternoon. Two occupants of the plane were taken to the hospital for observation only. They have since been released, according to the fire department.
