“The anticipation is really great. We hope that it will actually be a festival like in the time before Corona,” says Florian Bauböck, chairman of the KiK (Art in the Cellar) association in Ried. This year, the cultural association is organizing two major series of summer events. The second KiK Open Air will kick off from Wednesday, June 15th to Saturday, June 18th. More than 25 events take place at Corpus Christi on three stages in the middle of Ried. The main stage is located in the countryside on Mühlbachgasse.
Well-known bands such as Erwin & Edwin, Nino from Vienna and the Innviertel band Junger will perform there. On Thursday, June 16 (Corpus Christi) in the afternoon, a benefit concert with the Royal Sound Big Band is on the program, with donations being collected for the victims of the war in Ukraine. Afterwards there will be a cabaret with Mike Supancic. “We want to bring real festival character to Ried on these four days,” says Bauböck. The main stage can accommodate up to 650 visitors. In addition, there is a mobile “pop-up stage” for the first time, which will stop at various locations in Ried over the four days. Young and regional bands will perform with free entry.
Party until six in the morning at KiK
On Wednesday and Friday, after the open-air events, there will be after-parties in the KiK. On Wednesday, DJs Gerlad VDH and Zanshin from the electronic scene will be spinning. DJ MC Boogaloo will be on the podium on Friday, starting at 11 p.m. For the after parties, there is a 50 percent discount on entry with a day ticket for the main stage. Admission is included with the festival pass.
On these two days, the KiK is open until six in the morning. According to Bauböck, this is a test run in consultation with the city of Ried. “We were open until 6 a.m. about three weeks ago. That worked well. We’re pleased that there are fundamental signals from the city here, because we want to establish a club culture in Ried,” says Bauböck.
Kulturbühne from July 8th
After the great success of the KiK culture stage at the Neptunbrunnen last summer, there is a new edition this year. From July 8th to August 6th, concerts, cabarets and readings take place from Wednesday to Saturday. Admission is free. A total of 25 events are planned. “There will be summer cinema in Ried on Wednesdays this year,” says Bauböck. The Kulturbühne will also be part of the Rieder Stadtfest, which takes place from July 22nd to 24th.
