Worker fell six meters on construction site

A 27-year-old from the Salzburg-Land district suffered serious injuries during demolition work. The young man was at work with his 37-year-old work colleague in a carpentry workshop. A beam about five meters long from the old roof construction was to be lifted away using a crane. While the older of the two operated the crane, the younger waited at a height of around six meters.

However, while the beam was being lifted, he turned to his work colleague and failed to notice that the wood was swinging out. The massive wooden beam hit the worker in the back. He lost his balance from the impact and fell to the concrete floor. He suffered such serious injuries that he had to be taken to the UKH in Salzburg by emergency helicopter, the police said on Monday afternoon.
