Padel tennis: The largest facility outside of Vienna was built in Lenzing

The ball sport is a mixture of tennis and squash and is played with four players. The ground markings correspond to a tennis court, but there is also a boundary with glass walls that are included in the game.

The sport originated around 100 years ago in New York and has spread rapidly in recent years, first in Latin America and Spain – before conquering Europe from there.

Six places, two covered

A number of plants have already been built in the region in recent years. By far the largest has just been opened in Lenzing. It is called “PadelZeit” based on its location right next to the new hotel “Das Zeit” near the motorway. The facility has six padel courts, two of which are covered, so you can play even when it rains. It is currently the largest facility outside of Vienna.

Jakob Krocker, the operator of the facility, thinks he knows the reasons why padel tennis is booming. “Due to the simple basic technique, immediate joy of playing is guaranteed,” he says. “And because the physical requirements are low, all age groups can practice this sport. But ambitious players also get their money’s worth because there are many different shots to practice.”

At PadelZeit in Lenzing, players can rent or buy balls and other equipment. Jakob Krocker and his team also offer support for beginners. There are beginner workshops as well as advanced courses.

And of course the social aspect is not neglected either: After the sport, the players can analyze the match in the directly connected hotel restaurant with food and drinks.
