The tabloid “New York Post” reported on Monday that Depp’s lawyers wanted to interview the British woman, who was in a relationship with the actor in the 90s, as a witness on Wednesday. The news channel CNN also reported that the 48-year-old should be called as a witness.
During the trial in Fairfax, Virginia, Heard reported an incident in which Depp Moss is said to have pushed down a flight of stairs. This allows Depp’s lawyers to call the model legend as a witness. According to the New York Post, Moss is to testify via video conference. She and Depp were a couple between 1994 and 1997.
In the process, Heard accused Depp of repeatedly violently attacking her before and during their marriage, which lasted from 2015 to 2017. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star rejects this and in return accuses the actress, known from films like “Aquaman”, of violent behavior.
On Monday, the court again dealt with an allegation by Depp that the actress severed a fingertip in 2015 when she threw a vodka bottle at him in an argument. Orthopedic and trauma surgeon Richard Moore, called as a witness by Heard’s lawyers, said the injury suffered by Depp did not match his account of the incident.
The psychiatrist David Spiegel, who was also called as a witness by Heard’s lawyers, confirmed that Depp had “narcissistic traits” and behavior that indicated pathological alcohol and drug abuse.
A number of experts, acquaintances and former employees of Depp and Heard have already testified in the process, which has been running for six weeks. In the meantime, it was also expected that Tesla founder Elon Musk and actor James Franco would testify as witnesses. Both ultimately refused.
The process, which was accompanied by enormous media interest, is slowly coming to an end: Judge Penney Azcarate has scheduled the closing arguments for next Friday. Then the jury must decide.
Depp has sued Heard for $50 million in damages. He accuses the 36-year-old of having seriously damaged his career with false allegations of domestic violence. The background is an article for the “Washington Post” from 2018, in which Heard described himself as a victim of domestic violence without naming Depp. Heard has responded with a counterclaim against the 58-year-old, demanding $100 million in damages.
