Linz AG will increase electricity prices on July 1st. The measure had become necessary due to high procurement costs, the company announced on Tuesday. It is the first tariff increase for existing customers in twelve years. For an average household with an annual consumption of 2,500 kWh, the additional costs amount to 18.44 euros per month, the company calculated.
Energy sales manager Peter Steinberger emphasized that the price increase had been delayed as long as possible, but “at the moment we can no longer compensate for the cost pressure”. The electricity tariff, which consists of the basic energy price and the consumption-dependent energy work price, averages around 19.90 cents per kWh on July 1st. This corresponds to an increase in the energy price of 8.76 cents per kWh (both including VAT), the basic energy price increases by 4.22 percent, according to a broadcast.
