The list of the countries of origin of the musicians who will set the rhythm at the “Colours of Percussion” festival in Freistadt from today could go on for a long time. Top-class concerts with national and international stars as well as numerous workshops for beginners to advanced bring active people and listeners together in the Salzhof cultural center up to and including Saturday.
That of the OÖ. The music festival organized by the Landesmusikschulwerk, the association “Tonart” and the Landesmusikschule Freistadt has developed into an indispensable fixed point among the international festivals of percussionists in recent years. For the ninth time, Freistadt will become the colorful center of music from all over the world. One of the highlights of the festival program is tomorrow’s special concert “Stadt/Klang/Spur”. From 3.30 p.m., special sound experiences lure visitors to historical and hidden places in Freistadt’s old town.
Since the beginning of the festival, the organizer Markus Lindner and his team have been concerned to fill the motto “Rhythm connects” with life: “Colours of Percussion becomes a melting pot of cultural diversity full of mutual inspiration and appreciation.” The ecological aspect also plays an important role at the festival: As a plastic-free event, “Colours of Percussion” aims to provide impetus for avoiding disposable plastic at major events. Alternatives to avoiding plastic are shown and ecologically safer products are used.
