As of June 1st, masks will no longer be compulsory and the city of Linz will at the same time adjust the range of free tests to meet demand. This means that on May 31, the drive-in test street on the Industriezeile in the parking lot of the Plasser & Theurer company will cease operations. Until then, appointments can still be booked daily between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. A link is required for this, which is sent in the respective separation notice from the Linz health authority.
After that, free tests are only possible via “Upper Austria gurgelt” (https://ooe-gurgelt.at), the necessary gurgle kits are available in all Spar supermarkets.
After the peak times at the end of January and beginning of February, up to 500 people took advantage of the free test drive in the drive-in test street provided by the City of Linz, the Red Cross and the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (first on the fairgrounds, since April then in of the industrial line), it was only 20 tests per day in the end. A total of 23,000 tests for corona were carried out in the free test drive-in.
