Almost 3,000 new infections and 13 deaths

This is above the average of 2,517 cases over the past seven days, but the seven-day incidence fell slightly to 196 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. 13 deaths have been added since the previous day. There were 541 infected people in the hospital on the holiday, eight fewer than on Wednesday. 43 of those affected are still being cared for intensively, one person less on a daily basis and 15 fewer on a weekly basis.

Within one day, 228,722 PCR tests were registered, with a positive rate of 1.3 percent. Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,243,293 confirmed infections with SARS-CoV-2 in Austria. 4,184,997 people have had an infection, and 3,560 were considered free of the virus within the past 24 hours. The number of active cases therefore fell to less than 40,000 people.

3,837 vaccinations were carried out on Wednesday. Of these, 179 were first bites, 351 were second and 3,307 were third vaccinations. According to the data from the e-vaccination pass, a total of 6,827,980 people in Austria received at least one vaccination. 5.9 million people and thus 65.9 percent of the population have valid vaccinations.
