The accident happened at around 7:30 a.m. in Haid. According to the police, the man from the Grieskirchen district drove at excessive speed on the B1 coming from Linz in the direction of Marchtrenk.
At a major construction site in a 30 km/h zone, he left the road, collided with concreted curbs and rolled over. The force of the impact ripped out the entire engine block, police reported on Thursday afternoon. The car landed on its roof. The driver was injured, but he still decided to flee.
When the police arrived, the officials only found the badly damaged car and initiated a search – initially without success. The search came to an end after a tip from the Traun water rescue service, and the 30-year-old was caught at the Oedtsee: “At 11.20 a.m., the Traun water rescue service reported that the 30-year-old was at Oedtsee and wanted to file a complaint about the (…) facts,” the police reported in a broadcast.
A breathalyzer test showed a little later 0.76 per thousand. The 30-year-old was brought to the UKH Linz with the rescue. Ads to follow.
