To be queen once in a lifetime: The daffodil crown was passed on

This evening, numerous guests flocked to the Bad and Kurhaus in Bad Aussee in their most beautiful costumes. Locals, Daffodil Festival friends, young and old – nobody wanted to miss the evening on which the 62nd Daffodil Festival was officially opened with the coronation evening of the new Daffodil Queen and her two princesses.

Because this year – after a two-year break – everything is different, including the coronation evening. The casting of the new Daffodil Highnesses took place this year – as reported – for the first time behind closed doors, the majesties were chosen by the Daffodil Festival Committee.

You can see details of the election in early May in the video:

“It really wasn’t easy to choose the royals from 33 young women. But we made an excellent choice with the three ladies. And we’re happy to be able to present and crown them today,” says Rudi Grill, chairman of the Narcissus Festival Association. You can see more pictures of the Highnesses in the gallery:

For the new daffodil queen Lisa Weinhandl, a childhood dream has come true: “I still can’t believe it. But I love the Ausseerland – it’s my home and I’m allowed to represent it for a year now.”

A great honor

Their new position is also a great honor for the two daffodil princesses: “My grandparents and my dad come from Altaussee, so I’ve always been there since my childhood. That’s why I’m very happy,” says Katharina Thomanek from Abtenau. “My mom took part in the election when she was a young girl and my grandfather said at the time that I could also take part when I grew up,” says Narcissus Princess Isabella Kain from Tulln.

The new sovereigns entered the stage in the traditional Ausseer Dirndl. “It was important to me to portray the ladies as princesses. They are young, dynamic women and the dirndl should also reflect that,” says outfitter Martina Reischauer from Mautner Druck in Altaussee. The choice of colors was not difficult: the dirndls were kept in delicate lilac, powder pink and meadow green.

Yodelling, violin music and waltzes

With yodellers, violin music and waltzes, the people of Ausseer let the evening end with their new sovereigns. In the coming days, Lisa Weinhandl, Katharina Thomanek and Isabella Kain will be making numerous appearances at the Narcissus Festival – especially on the Sunday of the festival. But the three of them will also be at trade fairs and events throughout the year and will represent the Ausseerland in a worthy way.
