District police commandos under new leadership

In May 2013, Major Stefan Haslberger, then deputy district police commander for Martin Pumberger in Braunau, moved to Ried. There, the 52-year-old was appointed district police commander a short time later. As reported in OÖN, Pumberger (64) retired at the end of March.

Haslberger seized the opportunity to become boss at his old place of work. For a few weeks he has been working in Braunau, where, after nine years in Ried, he now heads the district police command in the largest town in the Innviertel region.

Gerald Eichinger will take over management in Ried on June 1st. The 52-year-old from the Eferding district brings a wealth of experience to the Innviertel. Already at the age of 28, Eichinger became district police commander of Eferding in 1998, at that time he was the youngest in Austria.

Anticipation at Eichinger

After around 19 years, Eichinger moved to the state control center (LLZ) in Linz in spring 2017. This led Eichinger until recently, now he accepts the challenge in Ried.

“I’m really looking forward to the new task and the challenges in Ried. Due to my experience as district police commander in Eferding, it won’t be a complete new start for me, although of course you can’t compare the Ried district with the Eferding district,” says Gerald Eichinger im Conversation with the OÖN.

You can read detailed interviews with the two new district police commanders Stefan Haslberger and Gerald Eichinger next week in the Upper Austrian News.
