“The anticipation of the festival counts more than the competition”

Girls walking around the village with bouquets of white daffodils. A starting area also adorned with the white flowers. And lots of smiling faces from amateur athletes, all of whom radiate one thing: the great joy that after a two-year break, the Narzissenlauf around Lake Altaussee is finally taking place again. Because the starting signal for the run has also been the traditional start of the Narcissus Festival presented by the OÖN since 1981.

“I am very pleased that so many runners have turned up and want to show their athletic performance at this start of the Daffodil Festival,” said Mayor Gerald Loitzl.

About 400 participants – as runners or Nordic walkers – were out and about around Lake Altaussee yesterday and enjoyed the panorama on the 8.1-kilometer route in ideal weather conditions. Many endurance athletes also allowed themselves a second round.

First Bambini run

In addition to the main competition and an inclusion run, the youngest athletes were also able to demonstrate their running talent this year: In addition to a school and a children’s competition, the toddlers aged around five years and younger completed their first in the Bambini competition (200 meters). daffodil run. The joy was written all over the face of the 30 little participants at the finish.

The course records (26:08 minutes for 8.1 kilometers and 47:37 minutes for 15.5 kilometers) were not broken this year either, but for the winners that was irrelevant anyway. All participants agreed that this run is less about the competition and more about the anticipation of the 62nd Narcissus Festival and the coming weekend. (cape)
