The driver of the car initially fled. Only when other road users saw a shoe and vehicle parts lying on the road did they discover the young person in the ditch. The resuscitation attempts of the called emergency doctor were unsuccessful.
The young man was walking towards Vorau on Vorauer Straße (L405) when he was hit by the car. At around 2.20 a.m., the passers-by discovered the injured person and made the emergency call.
On Thursday evening, the police announced that the fugitive driver had turned herself in. It is a 26-year-old from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district. The woman contacted the police and confessed to the incident. She said she was distracted and didn’t see the young man.
