Maybe a future world-class player will make it again this year and take the opportunity to collect important ranking list points and valuable competition practice. 26-year-old David Pichler from Burgenland, number 9 in the Austrian men’s rankings, used the ÖTV Challenge as a springboard and made it to world number 250. Pichler is leading the tableau this year. Local hero is Björn Nareyka. The number six seeded will meet Nicolas De Giacomo from Vienna for the first time in the main competition on Monday.
For women, the grid is led by Austria’s number 10, Tyrolean Anna-Lena Ebster. The Welsers Lea Lugmayr and Laura Ortner were given a wild card by the organizer and will also play their first round games on Monday.
All games can be seen in the Rosenau with free admission. Qualifications will be played tomorrow, the main competition starts on Monday. The final will take place on Thursday
