As it turned out when officers arrived, a 49-year-old had apparently grabbed his wife’s arm and pulled her hair. In the course of further investigations, the reason for the attack became clear: the woman had transferred several thousand euros to a fraudster.
The 48-year-old had met the alleged soldier on the Internet and fell in love with him. The woman told officers the soldier had been kidnapped and now needs ransom.
Selling own clothes
The 48-year-old had previously been in contact with the scammer for a few weeks. The woman believed her internet acquaintance and transferred her entire savings to an account in Turkey. In fact, she was so desperate that she sold her clothes in public places and gave her son’s money to the scammers. She also took out a loan to meet the money demands of the alleged kidnappers.
At no time did she find the process suspicious, the woman said when she was questioned by the police. The total damage amounts to several tens of thousands of euros.
The dispute flared up when the 49-year-old wanted to snatch his wife’s cell phone to prevent her from making further transfers.
