In his speech, the mayor of Sellrain came up with a clear government announcement, albeit with one caveat. Dornauer called out to the 250 or so delegates in his 45-minute speech, which was largely unoffensive but tried to be statesmanlike. The party congress motto “Ready for Tyrol” ran like a red thread through his speech.
“I would like to stand with you at the beginning of a new era, perhaps also with responsibility – if there is a mandate from the population in the election,” said Dornauer. Right at the beginning he made an announcement regarding the party name: The name implemented a few years ago would be changed from “Die Neue SPÖ Tirol” to “SPÖ Tirol”. “The project has been successfully completed. The goal of renewal has been achieved. Social democracy is about to make a political comeback in both the state and the federal government,” Dornauer said, explaining the “end” for the “new SPÖ”.
