Already in the area of the entrance to Weyer on the Weyerer Bundesstraße, a traffic patrol noticed two moped drivers at around 9:45 p.m. who were driving in the same direction in front of the officials. The police officers decided to check them, in particular because of their strikingly reckless driving style and the high probability that they had illegally modified their vehicles.
In the area of a lane narrowing, the officials tried to stop. But all signals were ignored by the two moped drivers over a length of at least 800 meters, while at the same time driving extremely daringly and sometimes endangering other road users, according to the police in their report.
Escaped: moped tuned to 111 km/h
Eventually they managed to overtake one of the two and bring him to a stop using a roadblock. After initial hesitation, he also revealed the approximate identity of the fugitive moped driver. At the registration address of the latter, a 16-year-old from the Steyr-Land district, the police found the moped with the engine and exhaust still hot. The 16-year-old himself fled on foot, but was apprehended by the police and admitted to having run away on purpose because he had illegally modified his moped. The speed check on the dynamometer resulted in 111 km/h. There are also other conversions such as a sports exhaust, a rear-view mirror bent downwards, a modified carburetor, a sports air filter, a larger sprocket or a license plate holder that can be folded away with your foot to avoid investigation by the police.
The officials found a total of 17 violations, for which the young person was reported to the Steyr-Land district authority. License plate and registration certificate were taken from him. The vehicle of the first youth complied with the regulations.
