Spain’s champions Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 in the Champions League final at the Stade de France near Paris on Saturday night and has won the “premium class” of football for the 14th time. The German Toni Kroos can call himself the Champions League winner for the fifth time. After 2013 with Bayern Munich, the 32-year-old was able to win the most coveted title in club football in 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2022 with Real.

“It has to sink in for a few days, I looked where my family is. It’s a very special title because everyone is in the stadium. Today all the children were in the stadium, you can’t describe how nice it is,” said Kroos after the final whistle in the ZDF interview with reporter reporter Nils Kaben.
“Also because it wasn’t so obvious when you look at the course of the game?” Kaben wants to know. Kroos: “Pfff, what is natural? Winning the Champions League is also something that cannot be taken for granted. We put up a great fight, we knew Liverpool were a great team. Pff, what do you mean not self-evident? We won, done!”
When the reporter asked him again, the midfielder finally lost his composure: “You’ve had 90 minutes to think about sensible questions, honestly. And now you’re asking me two such shitty questions,” Kroos rants and breaks the live interview away. “It’s really bad, really bad, really,” you can hear the Real player saying in passing and in the direction of the reporter: “You first ask three negative questions, then you already know that you’re from Germany.”
